Aluminum siding painting

Chalked, faded aluminum siding cleaned and restored to an even, uniform color.

Factory siding finishes break down in the sun. The color goes flat, then powdery, and you can see it on your hand when you touch the wall.

Chalk has to come off completely before anything new will hold. We clean thoroughly, prime with a bonding primer made for metal, and apply multiple spray coats for an even color across every panel.

Process

How the finish is made

On site, without removal. Expected finish life in South Florida: 7–10 years.

  1. Inspect

We assess the existing coating and note oxidation, chalking and peeling.

  2. Clean & sand

Dirt, salt and loose paint come off. Rough areas are sanded smooth.

  3. Mask & prime

Glass, stone and surrounding surfaces are masked. A bonding primer made for metal goes on first.

  4. Finish coats

Multiple spray-applied coats build an even, uniform finish.

  5. Walkthrough

We clean up completely and review the work with you before we leave.

Questions

Siding: common questions

Why is my siding powdery?

That's chalking: the factory finish breaking down in UV. It has to be cleaned off before repainting or the new coat won't bond.

Is painting cheaper than replacing siding?

Usually, when the panels are sound. We'll tell you honestly if they aren't.
