Aluminum painting in Fisher Island

An island reached only by ferry or boat. Logistics planned ahead, finish applied on site.

Fisher Island has no bridge. Crews and materials arrive by ferry, under the island's access rules, so a project there is planned further ahead than one on the mainland.

The island is surrounded by water, and railings and window frames on its residences face constant salt air. Thorough preparation is what makes a finish last there.

Process

How the finish is made

Salt is washed out of every joint before priming. Expected finish life in South Florida: 7–10 years.

  1. Inspect

We assess the existing coating and note oxidation, chalking and peeling.

  2. Clean & sand

Dirt, salt and loose paint come off. Rough areas are sanded smooth.

  3. Mask & prime

Glass, stone and surrounding surfaces are masked. A bonding primer made for metal goes on first.

  4. Finish coats

Multiple spray-applied coats build an even, uniform finish.

  5. Walkthrough

We clean up completely and review the work with you before we leave.
